Context
Nortal is a multinational strategic change and technology company. Combining the unique experience of transforming Estonia into a digital leader and creating change in businesses with a strategic approach and data-driven technology, their vision is to build a seamless society. Nortal operates in nearly 20 countries and employs over 750 specialists who carry out high-impact projects across Europe, Middle East, Africa, and North America. At the moment, Nortal has more than 200 ongoing projects globally. They were in the market for a long-term partner for one of their biggest projects in the Baltic countries.
Project Goal
The goal of the project was to support and develop new features for one of the biggest telecommunication services provider in Europe self-care PrePaid and PostPaid systems and its branches across the different countries.

Solution
To ensure good results and be a valuable long-term partner, toughlex needed to make sure that there was excellent communication with both Nortal, their client, and other parties involved in supporting the project. toughlex was and still is involved in the entire process of project development from planning to shipping. Regardless of the changing requirements and workflow toughlex managed to adapt and meet the needs.

The telecommunication business is highly competitive and requires adaptation constantly. For this reason, Nortal wanted to start working in agile methodology, and toughlex was able to help with the transition.
Integrations
The system relies on more than 12 SOAP and REST-based integrations and serves tens of thousands of users, thus the team needs to constantly support it and act quickly when something goes wrong to ensure high uptime.
Multiple redesigns
toughlex was a part of multiple, major redesigns, with a plethora of new features and performance requirements.
Mobile app API
toughlex develops and maintains REST-based API for a mobile app, ensuring code reusability between different clients and best design practices.

Results
After thousands lines of new code, and many successful releases, we can call the Nortal-toughlex partnership a success. In a year and a half, the team grew more than twofold, and both parties are expecting the collaboration to keep increasing, learning the best from each other.
Technologies
With different branches of the business, there are different technology stacks. Together with the Nortal team, toughlex successfully moved from .NET to .NET Core as its back-end server. Supporting a multitude of front-end technologies, like AngularJs, KnockoutJs, and Razor.
We successfully integrated Google Analytics and set up a logging server with Elasticsearch and Kibana for centralized real-time statistics and logging.
MS SQL Server was used as a data storage, Redis as a centralized caching store to ensure consistency in a distributed system.
